About Brass Model Trains:

Some brass models have never been operated and many have never been out of the box. We do not test these models for running quality. There is a fine line of what is considered brand new versus what appears to be new. Some models may show signs of having been tested. We understand some purchasers are collectors and they wish to have pristine examples of a given model for their collection.

Other brass models we sell have clearly been run at some point in the past. For these, we will perform thorough tests to check the running quality of the locomotive. If minor maintenance needs to be performed to make the locomotive run smoother and quieter, we’ll perform this service. If extensive work needs to be performed to get the locomotive to run reasonably well, we will not perform this service. We will include noted repairs and/or issues in the description. We partner with Scale Brass Mechanic and we would recommend the buyer contact him to discuss servicing the locomotive.

Note: The majority of brass locomotives we sell are DC/analog only. They do not have DCC decoders installed in them. This will also be noted in the description of the item being sold. Scale Brass Mechanic also installs sound and mobile DCC decoders into brass locomotives, and we recommend reaching out to him.
